The Headless Horseman is a fictional character made real by the Shadow Coven to kill Raven Hex's family, first making an appearance on issue #7 and dying in issue #9.

Physical Appearance[]

The Headless Horseman as a monstrous skeletal entity (though only in appearance as he can bleed) robed completely in black with a collar where its neck would have been, a pair of trousers and a belt with a chrome-silver buckle. As the name suggests, the Horseman has no head, instead carrying a flaming jack o'lantern.

The Horseman rides a skeletal horse with lanky, feather-like hair on its neck and tail, its mouth, nose and eye sockets glowing the same fiery glow as the jack o'lantern.

Personality[]

As due the purpose of its creation, the Headless Horseman's mission in life it to kill the Black Rose Coven. Unlike the Pumpkin Monsters however, the Horseman does possess some form of sentience, killing a random citizen and leaving a message on it to draw out Tarot and her mother. It also seems to derive some sort of pleasure from Tarot's fear of him.

Powers and Abilities[]

The full entent of the Horseman's powers is never stated, but it is clear that he does have some form of magic, one of the witches psychically helping Tarot claiming that the entity is "powerful" and "dark". He was able to summon different monsters to keep Jon and Tarot's mother busy while he fought off Tarot. He was also able to leave a residual message for Tarot's mother to find.

He alo seems to possess admirable swordsman skills.

History[]

In order to punish Raven Hex through the Three-Fold Law, the Shadow Coven created the Headless Horseman to hunt and kill her remainig family, choosing such a form because of Tarot's childhood fear of the story that the Headless Horseman was based on.

The Horseman kills a random citizen, leaving a residual message for Tarot's mother to find. He issue an ultimatum: either come to the covered bridge with her family or more shall die starting with the city's children. Tarot's mother brings Tarot, Jon and herself (Raven Hex refusing to attend) to the bridge where the Horseman attacks them. The Horseman use Tarot's childhood fear of him to his advantage, summoning burning spectral clones of Tarot and Raven and a humanoid spider monster to distract Jon and her mother while he and Tarot fight each other.

Tarot kills his horse while he draws his own swords. He uses his pumpkin as a throwing weapon until Tarot catches one and destroys the bridge with it. te Horseman manages to spear her through with his sword (killing one of the witches heloing her residually in the process), only for Tarot to spear him through with her own sword, killing him and his minions in the process and fading away with Tarot's sword.
